NEW YORK (WATE)- Former Vol Jarnell Stokes was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft, 35th overall, by the Utah Jazz. However, the Jazz traded Stokes to the Memphis Grizzlies for a second round pick in the 2016 draft.
Stokes is a Memphis native and grew up attending Grizzlies home games.
Stokes is now the 44th Vol to be drafted in NBA Draft history. He finished his junior season averaging 15.1 points and 10.6 rebounds. His 22 double-doubles last season ranked second among all Division I players and tied the Tennessee single-season record set by Hall of Famer Bernard King in 1976-77. Stokes nearly averaged a double-double for his career, posting three-year marks of 13.0 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
