Yarn company to locate plant in Jefferson County, bring nearly 3 dozen jobs

DANDRIDGE (WATE) - A European yarn company announced Friday it is planning a manufacturing facility in Dandridge that is expected to bring 32 jobs and millions of dollars to the community.

Wetekam Monofilaments USA, LP says it has purchased a 93,000 square foot facility in the Jefferson County Industrial Park. The company plans to manufacture monofilament yarns through a high tech extrusion process.

Wetekam Monofilaments was established in 1965 and is one of the largest monofilament yarn manufacturers in Europe. Currently 45 percent of its production is for export; 30 percent of production is estimated to be for the North American market.

The Jefferson County facility will assume production responsibilities for U.S., Canadian and South American customers.
