Suspects steal ATM from Morristown credit union

MORRISTOWN (WATE) - The Morristown Police Department is looking for whoever stole an ATM from a credit union early Friday morning.

According to a police report, officers were called to Consumer Credit Union, 4918 W. Andrew Johnson Highway, around 5:52 a.m. for an ATM panic alarm. When they arrived, they found a forklift parked behind the bank and the ATM had been taken.

Surveillance video showed unknown suspects pulling into the parking lot around 5:30 a.m. in a white Dodge pickup and a CAT forklift. They are then seen taking the ATM and loading it into the back of the pickup, which has what appears to be a Florida license plate.

The forklift had been stolen from a construction site on Merchants Greene Boulevard where a Walmart is being built. The key had been left inside.

The suspects took off in an unknown direction.

The credit union is attempting to see if there is a tracking device inside the ATM.
