Knox County Sheriff's Office warning residents of phone scammer

Posted:
KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The Knox County Sheriff's Office is alerting residents about another phone scam going around Knox County.

According to recent reports to the KCSO, a man calls and identifies himself either by the name of Captain Hubbs or Sargent Baily with the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

He tells victims that they missed their jury duty date, and they must now purchase Green Dot cards to pay their fines.

Anyone receiving calls matching this description is warned to not give the caller any money, as the KCSO does not collect fees or fines through phone calls.

If you do receive one of these calls, report it at (865) 215-2243.
