Tennessee introduces new track and field coach

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -  Tennessee athletics director Dave Hart introduced Beth Alford-Sullivan as Tennessee's newest track and field and cross country head coach during a news conference at Tom Black track in LaPorte Stadium on the University of Tennessee campus Tuesday morning. Alford-Sullivan will oversee the combined men's and women's programs.

Alford-sullivan graduated from Minnesota and spent the last 15 years coaching at Penn State. The final eight years of her tenure were as head of both the mens' and women's program's. While at Penn State, she earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors nine times.

"I have a passion for college sport because it's the last time a student athlete wears the jersey and represents," explained Alford-Sullivan. "That's what I love to do and give them the opportunity. We need to do it at the level we should be at so I'm just thrilled to be here and thrilled to get it started."

This past season the Vols and Lady Vols finished in the bottom half of the SEC in track and cross country.
