3 sent to hospital with stab wounds following altercation in car

WILLIAMSBURG (WATE) - Three men received treatment for stab wounds Friday night after a car ride turned into a heated physical altercation.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff's Office, around 9 p.m., Whitley County E911 reported to deputies a stabbing had occurred in the Upper Mulberry area.

Dispatchers had received a call from Julia Lawson, 38, of Skagg's Branch, saying that she was driving to town seeking medical attention for her husband, Clarence J. Lawson, 44. She informed dispatchers that he had been stabbed multiple times.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Lawsons were in their vehicle with their two grandchildren and two other men, George Saylor, 44, and Thomas G. Mills, 57, when an argument led to a fight.

Both Mills and Saylor were transported to the hospital by a civilian for stab wounds they sustained.

Authorities say a large amount of blood was found along with a wooden walking stick broken in half.

Julia Lawson was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
