Oak Ridge man dies while incarcerated on July 4th

OAK RIDGE (WATE) - An Oak Ridge man died on Friday while incarcerated at the Anderson County Detention Facility.

The Oak Ridge Police Department arrested Christopher C. Sullivan, 34, of Oak Ridge around noon on Friday, July 4th for Public Intoxication, 2 counts of Possession of Schedule 2 substance, and outstanding warrants for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He was booked into the Anderson County Detention Facility.

According to the Anderson County Sherrif's Department, Sullivan was checked several times at regular intervals until he was discovered unconscious around 3:30pm. Officers began CPR immediately and contacted Anderson County EMS. Sullivan was pronounced dead at the Methodist Medical Center emergency room. His body was sent for an autopsy to the regional forensic center.

A criminal investigation remains active.
