KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Knox County Commissioner Jeff Ownby has been released from the hospital after suffering a pancreatic attack.

Commission says Ownby suffered the attack on July 2 and was treated at UT Medical Center. Ownby credits the "skill, work and wonderful care of the doctors and nursing staff at UT with his rapid recovery."

"I want to thank everyone for all the well-wishes and prayers, and hope to be back in the saddle in a few days," said Ownby in a prepared statement.
