Blount County motorcycle crash makes 10th fatality since May

MARYVILLE (WATE) - The Blount County Sheriff's Office has now worked 10 fatal crashes since May following a motorcycle accident Thursday night.

Around 3 p.m., Lloyd Wayne Dyer, 64, of Indiana, was traveling south on Calderwood Highway near Harrison Branch when his Honda Gold Wing went off the right shoulder of the road.

The bike traveled in the ditch line for a short distance and then jumped back onto the road, throwing Dyer.

According to the crash report, Dyer was not wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the crash.

He was transported to UT Medical Center by Lifestar from a landing site on Highway 129, where he was later pronounced dead.
