KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A resident of a West Knoxville apartment complex was quick to notify Emergency 911 Sunday afternoon when he noticed smoke coming from the laundry room of his apartment unit.

According to Captain Corcoran of the Knoxville Fire Department, just after noon, crews responded to Willows of West Hills Apartments, where they located smoke coming from the third floor of building two.

Firefighters advanced attack lines, while extra crews evacuated residents from the remainder of the building.

Crews were able to contain the damage to the laundry room.

The unit directly below sustained minimal water damage.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
