11-year-old boy saves 3-year-old from drowning in Pinellas pool

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL (WFLA) - A 3-year-old boy was recovering in a hospital on Thursday night after being pulled out of a hotel swimming pool by an 11-year-old boy according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies were called to the Holiday Inn at 401 2nd Street in Indian Rocks at 3:53 p.m. on Thursday for a report of a near drowning.


Deputies tell us Dominic Cicco of Tallahassee, was swimming with his father, 42-year-old Vincent Cicco, when another child noticed Cicco was unresponsive in the water.

Detectives say 11-year-old Riley Cooper of Plant City, helped pull Cicco out of the pool and nearby adults performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived.

Authorities report that Cicco was transported to a local hospital and that his injuries are not life threatening.

Investigators believe the near drowning was an accident and they do not anticipate filing any charges.
