KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Charges stemming from the DUI arrest of radio host and former UT football player Erik Ainge were dismissed on Friday.

The Knoxville Police officer who arrested Ainge was unable to testify because he lives in Florida and is no longer with the KPD. A failure to prosecute is cited as the reason for the dismissal.

Ainge was arrested nearly a year ago in July on DUI charges when a Knoxville police officer noticed his GMC Sierra swerving in and out of traffic on I-40 West near the West Hills exit around 1:15 a.m. on a Sunday morning.

Ainge failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, implied consent, and roadway lane violation, according to Knoxville Police Department spokesman Darrell DeBusk.
