1 cup toasted walnuts
2 3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 tbsp baking powder
1/3 lb softened butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 tbsp Brandy
1 1/2 tbsp Anise oil/extract
1 1/2 tbsp Vanilla extract
*substitute 3/4 tbsp dry Anise

Toast the walnuts, cool completely. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add flavorings and beat, stir in flour, baking powder and walnuts. Divide dough into portions. Lightly flour surface, roll into 12" x 3 1/2" logs.

Bake at 350-375 for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick is just dry in the center. Let cool 2-4 minutes then slice in angles 1/2 inch thick. Return to the cookie sheet and bake again at 375 for 4-6 minutes til crisp but not dark or burned.

Makes 1 roll, 12 inches long
