KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Kyle Serrano, the son of Tennessee baseball head coach Dave Serrano and a rising sophomore pitcher at UT, broke his left ankle and foot in an ATV crash, according to a statement from Dave Serrano released Tuesday night.
"Kyle was thrown from the passenger's side and suffered a fracture to his left ankle and foot area when the vehicle rolled over his legs," Serrano said. "He will return home and be re-evaluated with a possibility of surgery later this week."
The recovery time is expected to be six to eight weeks. The former Farragut high standout was playing in the Alaska Baseball League this summer after pitching just over 59 innings for the Vols as a freshman.
