BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. -

A Monticello, Kentucky man is now charged following a double murder in Pickett County late Wednesday night.

Dan Dowdy, 58, and his son, 22-year-old Cody Dowdy, were found dead Thursday morning inside the Sugar Shack on North York Highway in Byrdstown.

The Sugar Shack is owned by Dowdy family. Byrdstown is situated along the Tennessee state line, approximately two hours northeast of Nashville.

Joshua Pyles, 34, was arrested early Friday morning.

Pyles was charged with two counts of first degree murder. He is being held in the Pickett County jail without bond.

The investigation is ongoing.

The circumstances of the crime and its motivation remain under investigation.
