ALTAMONT, Tenn. (AP) - State and local officials are cutting down an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 large marijuana plants found on a Grundy County tree farm.

The Grundy County Sheriff's Office began the eradication on Wednesday night, and it has carried on into Thursday.

The sheriff's office called in members of the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication to help remove and dispose of the plants.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh Devine said task force members do not yet have an estimate for the weight and potential street value for the plants.
