CROSSVILLE (WATE) – The TBI has been called to investigate how a man died while in police in custody of Crossville Police.

The sheriff’s office says 34-year-old Rustin Grayson was brought Sunday to the county justice center after being arrested by police.

We’re told Grayson could not get out of the police car without help. A nurse checked Grayson and he was sent to the hospital.

The sheriff’s office says Grayson died at the hospital while being treated.

Grayson’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death. The sheriff’s office believes drugs were a contributing factor.
