2 arrested after pursuit from Knox County to Blount County

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Two people were arrested Tuesday after a pursuit that began in Knox County and ended in Blount County.

Christopher Tyler Haynes, 30, and Steven John Haynes, 58, were both taken into custody.

It all started just before 3 p.m. when a Knox County Sheriff's Office deputy was called to Kohl's in Farragut about possible shoplifters.

When the officer arrived, he pulled behind the suspect vehicle, a 2012 blue Toyota Prius and ordered the suspects from the vehicle.

After being questioned about stolen merchandise, Steven Haynes ran off.and was caught after a short pursuit.

Christopher Haynes drove off, hitting a KCSO cruiser in the process.

Airwatch and the KCSO located the vehicle, chasing it on Pellissippi Parkway toward Blount County. The Blount County Sheriff's Office was able to stop the vehicle around 3:09 p.m. on Pellissippi at Old Knoxville Highway with assistance from Knox County officers.

Steven Haynes was taken to Parkwest Hospital, where he was treated and released. 

Christopher Haynes is being held on a $7,500 combined bond and is charged with evading arrest, driving while privilege suspended, and leaving the scene of an accident. 

Steven Haynes is being held on a $4,000 combined bond and is charged with evading arrest, resisting, theft of property, and criminal trespass. Both have outstanding warrants in surrounding counties.
