LOUDON (WATE) - The Loudon County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a phone scam in which a con artist pretends to be an officer demanding money.

The caller, who says he is from the sheriff's office, says warrants have been issued for the person's arrest for non-payment of a fine, failure to appear and other various reasons.

The Loudon County Sheriff's Office says it does not call anyone to collect money for any reason. If you receive a call like this, do not give them any information or call them back at any number they may give.

If you have received this type of call and would like to report it, call Loudon County dispatch at (865) 458-9081.
