LENOIR CITY (WATE) - A Loudon County grand jury has indicted a former resident for the murder of her husband in November 2013.

Deborah Janet Morton is charged with first degree murder. Her husband Ralph (Floyd) Morton was found dead at their Cattleman's Drive home on November 6, 2013.

Deputies were sent to the home on that date for a possible suicide by gunshot. When they arrived, they found Mr. Morton unresponsive on the living room couch with a gunshot wound to the head.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After a thorough investigation, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office concluded that Mr. Morton's death was not a suicide. The case was presented to the Loudon County Grand Jury on August 11 and the indictment was returned on August 12.

Ms. Morton's turned herself into authorities on Thursday and she was released on $50,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, August 18.
