SEVIERVILLE (WATE) - A Cookeville man was arrested after allegedly forging a check with an extra digit and trying to cash it in Sevierville.

Police said John Florea took a check from an elderly woman in another county and then altered the check, which was originally $850 dollars by adding an extra 9 to make it $9,850.

The Citizens National Bank refused to cash it.
