Son driving U-Haul rear-ends father on I-24, overturns

A father and son traveling to Florida for the teen’s first year of college were involved in a wreck Thursday morning on Interstate 24 north of Nashville.

The father, driving ahead of the son who was driving a U-Haul, was forced to slam on his brakes, causing his son to do the same.

The teen couldn’t stop the U-Haul in time and rear-ended the father’s car. The impact caused the U-Haul to run off the road and overturn.

The crash happened just north of Old Hickory Boulevard around 7:15 a.m.

The father told News 2 he saw the entire thing in his rearview mirror and panicked.

His son was able to climb out of the wrecked U-Haul uninjured.
