KNOXVILLE (WATE) - Most areas will remain quiet overnight, but it will be quite muggy with most only dropping off into the upper 60s to lower 70s.

An upper level ridge builds in Friday allowing temperatures to rise into the low 90s and heat index values climb into the mid-upper 90s.

There will also be some spotty P.M. storms, which could be strong to severe. The most likely area to see them will be north and east of Knoxville.

As disturbances ride over the ridge, scattered storms will be possible at times, especially during the afternoons and evening over the weekend and into early next week.

There should be some slightly drier air coming by the middle of next week.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and muggy overnight. Low: 71°.

FRIDAY: Hot and humid with a few spotty storms - 30% coverage. High: 93°.

SATURDAY: Warm and humid with 40% coverage of P.M. storms. High: 92.
