KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A woman was taken into police custody early Monday after a train crashed into an unoccupied car in North Knoxville.

The Knoxville Police Department says it happened around 2:40 a.m. near the intersection of N. Sixth Avenue and Abilene Place.

Officers say when they arrived at the intersection, they found an abandoned 2008 silver Honda Accord 100 yards south on the train tracks.

KPD says the driver's side of the car had been hit by the train. The vehicle was sitting perpendicular to the tracks against the front of the engine.

Shortly after arriving on scene, authorities spoke with the owner of the vehicle. 6 News crews saw KPD putting the woman in handcuffs.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. No injuries have been reported.
