Houston, Tx. (CNN) – A woman's Facebook status on the unrest in Ferguson, Mo. following the shooting death of teenager of Michael Brown led to her losing her job at a Houston, Texas hospital.
"The police need to just start mowing them down with machine guns, purge them," she wrote on her Facebook page, apparently in reference to the people protesting the shooting death of Brown.
CNN affiliate KHOU reports that a man brought the offending post to the attention of the unnamed woman's employer, Houston's Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital, after finding it "very racist."
"It shouldn't be tolerated when you're a professional," said the man, who didn't want to be identified. "A hospital is a place where you're supposed to have compassion upon people of all races."
The woman, who remains unidentified, was later fired by her employer, Memorial Hospital Southeast. In a series of tweets from the hospital's official account, they confirmed her termination and explained their reasoning.
“A non-nurse employee posted an offensive comment. MH absolutely disagrees with that post. We have a 107-year history of serving everyone,” the hospital said. “The individual is no longer an employee of Memorial Hermann. We cannot disclose any further information.”
