JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) - Johnson City Police are trying to crack what they think could be a regional shoplifting ring.

On August 4th, detectives got several calls from stores in The Mall at Johnson City about thefts inside stores.

Surveillance video shows two groups of two people stealing more than $1,000 total from Belk, Zumiz, Crazy Eight, Express, Charlotte Russe, and Justice.

Police don't believe this was a random hit by low-skilled crooks.

"The subjects appear to be apart of an organized shoplifting ring and possibly are out of the Knoxville area," said Lt. Steve Sherfey, Johnson City Police.
