Lee Greenwood to perform at halftime of Vols' Military Appreciation Game Saturday

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The University of Tennessee will hold its Military Appreciation Game of 2014 on Saturday when the Vols take on Arkansas State.

According to UTsports.com, The Pride of the Southland Band will perform a military tribute at halftime alongside country music icon, Lee Greenwood.

The website says several Medal of Honor recipients in attendance will also be honored.

Also at halftime, The University of Tennessee will be designated a Purple Heart school by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Department of Tennessee, for their commitment to veterans and their constant support of combat-wounded veterans.

UT is the first school in the state of Tennessee to ever receive this honor, and only the sixth school nationally to be given the recognition.

If any fans are looking to get involved with the Military Appreciation Day, a 20 by 8-foot wooden banner will be set up outside Gate 21 for people to sign in appreciation of our men and women in uniform.
