Potato Cake with Mushrooms

3 large potatoes, thinly sliced with skins
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg, well beaten

In a 9 or 10 inch baking pan, overlay 1/2 of the potatoes, add 1/2 the mushrooms, layer 1/4 cup of the cheese, and brush with the egg. Continue, with a second layer exactly like the first. Bake at 325 degrees for 30-40 minutes. This dish needs to cook well, and it is better if you let it set for a couple hours and then reheat it.
