MURFREESBORO (WATE) -- The Maryville Rebels ended their third straight undefeated season with a 35-10 dominating win over Hillsboro Saturday in the Class 4A football championship at MTSU.
The win gives the Rebels the first undefeated three-peat in state high school football and six titles in the last seven years.
Maryville won this year's Blue Cross Bowl with the help of Tyler Maples, a Mr. Football winner and UT commitment. He caught six passes for 130 yards receiving and three touchdowns and was named Offensive MVP.
Two of Maples' touchdowns came in the first half, pushing the Rebels to a 21-3 halftime lead that the Hillsboro Burros could never overcome.
Maryville has a remarkable 98-6 record in the last seven years and has won 45 in a row.
