Amy Charles, Grand Oaks Elementary School

Teacher of the Month - December 2007

Amy Charles, Grand Oaks Elementary School

Congratulations to Amy Charles, our Teacher of the Month for December.

Mrs. Charles teaches 2nd grade at Grand Oaks Elementary School in Anderson County.

She was selected from an entry submitted by a the parent of a student in her class.

Here is the nomination for Mrs. Charles:

Mrs. Charles is very loving and caring for her children in all aspects. She even dyed her hair red when one of her students was being joked because she was the only red-head in class. She makes learning fun for the children and prevents kids from being singled out and picked on if they are slower in other subjects. She is innovative in her teaching approach. She involves the parents with educating their children and invites them in to be "secret readers". When the school had a lock-down and all the kids were scared, she went out of her way to comfort them and make sure they knew they were safe. In this world full of stories of a corrupt educational system and non-caring teachers, I am proud to say that my child does not suffer from these circumstances. I know she is in safe and caring hands everyday she is at school.
