Vanderbilt chancellor's ex-wife to get $8,000 in monthly alimony

NASHVILLE (AP) -- The ex-wife of a former Vanderbilt University chancellor stands to receive $8,000 a month in alimony and a lump sum of nearly $320,000.

Constance Gee, 54, also gets to keep the former couple's vacation home an hour away from Cape Cod, and Gordon Gee must sell their $715,500 property in Grundy County, Tennessee.

The $96,000 a year in alimony is for 60 months or until she remarries or dies.

Constance Gee filed for divorce last February citing irreconcilable differences.

She made headlines in 2006 when the Wall Street Journal reported that anonymous sources said she had smoked marijuana at the university-owned mansion where the couple lived.

Gordon Gee came to Vanderbilt from Brown University in 2000 and served as chancellor for seven years earning more than $1 million a year.

He's now president of Ohio State University.
