Officer, man injured in South Pittsburg shooting

SOUTH PITTSBURG (AP) -- Authorities say a man and a South Pittsburg police officer responding to an argument at a festival have been shot.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Kristin Helm says the agency was asked to investigate the incident that happened early Saturday morning.

The fight occurred behind the South Pittsburg Fire Department and officers providing security at the Cornbread Festival became involved.  During the scuffle, one officer and a festival-goer were shot.

The names of the two wounded men have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

No charges are pending, but findings from the completed investigation will be turned over to the district attorney for review.
