KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- Discount grocery chain ALDI will open in Knoxville on Monday, March 9 at 2801 Schaad Road.
Store hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
ALDI offers its own alternatives to brand name items, but shoppers don't have to buy in bulk.
"More and more consumers are feeling the effects of rising food prices and ALDI is excited to offer Knoxville residents a little relief," said Troy Marshall, ALDI Mt. Juliet division vice president.
Customers can expect to find 1,400 of the most frequently purchased items at an average 16 percent to 24 percent less than big box discount stores and 30 percent to 40 percent less than traditional supermarket brands.
Shoppers can also use a cart deposit system that allows you to rent one for a quarter.
ALDI began in the U.S. in 1976. The chain now has approximately 1,000 stores in 29 states, primarily from Kansas to the East Coast.
