Winter Weather Alert

Winter Weather Alert: Widespread Snow Likely

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - Be sure to follow the WATE 6 On Your Side Storm Team for the latest updates:

Today: Snow Likely, Colder Temps: Hi 30
Snow arriving toward the end of the morning commute. Make sure you're planning ahead for midday and afternoon travel. Many untreated roads will be snow covered with slower travel likely. Once the snow arrives, plan on hours of light to briefly moderate snowfall. Final totals will be in the Trace to 2" range with pockets across the Plateau and Smokies near 3".
Tonight: Snow Ending, Temps Dropping Quickly: Lo 12
Snow shutting down quickly after sunset leaving only a few light snow showers until midnight. Drying out and clearing out will aid in a quick temp drop. Breezy NW winds will drop wind chills into the single digits for most also. The big story early Wednesday will be the cold and a few slick spots.
Tomorrow: More Sun, Still Cold: Hi 25
Sunshine coming out but temperatures staying cold. Any sun blocked roads could still be icy and slick. Slick spots along with bitter cold air is why we're weather AWARE Wednesday. That all ends late week. Above freezing by Thursday with 40s and 50s likely this weekend. Our next widespread rain chances are holding off until early next week.
