KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Grab your paddles and life jacket for a race on the Tennessee River. The Tennessee Clean Water Network’s Race for Clean Water Dragon Boat Festival is later this month.
The event is Saturday, August 27, at Volunteer Landing in Downtown Knoxville. Early registration has ended, but corporate teams can still take part for $1,200, $900 for nonprofit teams, and $500 for travel teams and club teams.
TCWN says dragon boat racing is the ultimate team building sport. Teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steerer race an authentic Hong Kong-style 46-foot long dragon boat. The course is 250m on the Tennessee River and all ages, skill levels and physiques can take part.
