KFD Chief speaks on floodwater response, rescues

Community

Images of floodwaters across our region have been shared throughout the weekend and early week, including the work of first responders as they aided people in the troubled waters.

First responders, including members of the Knoxville Fire Department, worked tirelessly to rescue people and pets after Knoxville experienced record rainfall that led to flooding.

KFD Chief Stan Sharp stopped by the WATE 6 On Your Side newsroom studio to speak about the rescues, the response, and the importance of staying away from potentially dangerous floodwaters.

Chief Sharp also advised on what to do if your property is damaged.

The KFD official also stressed the adage, “Turn around, don’t drown.”
