Real help for the brave men and women who sacrificed for our freedom.
This weekend, the Oak Ridge Sportsmen’s Association hosted the Eighth Annual Pull For Our Veterans event to raise money for “Smoky Mountain Service Dogs”, a nonprofit that pairs disabled veterans with service dogs.
Organizers said the event raised $202,000 in its first seven years.
“Oh it’s wonderful, it’s the first time we’ve had the shoot here for Pull for Our Veterans,” said organizer Richard Stouder. “There was 36 shooters, everyone’s having a good time.”
Service dogs from Smoky Mountain Service Dogs were also on hand for the event. “The service dogs are helping them adjust and really live like they need to,” Stouder said.
“Just seeing the veterans that get these dogs. The way they react with them. It just makes us feel better about the way we support this organization,” one attendee said. “As a veteran, I like to see things to help, especially wounded veterans and this is a way to give back to them.”
