The 3rd Annual Veterans Heritage Ridge Run Event is returning to Knoxville

Community

The Veteran’s Heritage Site Foundation is hosting their third annual 5k run event at Sharps Ridge on Saturday, April 6.

The annual event is a fundraiser with proceeds supporting the construction and maintenance of Sharps Ridge Veterans Memorial Park. In addition to the 5k, a 10k Rucksack Relay was created to spread awareness to the 22 Veterans who commit suicide daily due to PTSD. The goal is to make the community aware and focus their attention of Veterans needs by bringing together Veterans, JROTC members, and local supporters.

Sharps Ridge Veterans Memorial Park has been transformed into a versatile park for mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, and family picnics. It was originally named as a Veterans Memorial Park and the Veteran Heritage Site Foundation has committed to respect the founders designated area to honor our Veterans.

The Veteran Heritage Site Foundation goal is to preserve and maintain Veterans Heritage Sites, making sure they properly honor the sacrifices of our Veterans and continue the legacy on to future generations. For more information, visit the Veteran Heritage Site Foundation website.

Registration for the 5k can be found on their Veteran Heritage Ridge Run 5k website and the 10k Rucksack Relay.
