The Tennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless (TVCH) hosts the annual Empty Bowl Event on February 22nd at 6 p.m.

Attendees will taste various soups, bread, and desserts donated by local restaurants. Additionally, everyone will take home a beautiful handmade pottery bowl by Mighty Mud. The full proceeds from this event will go toward ending veteran homelessness in East Tennessee.

According to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the State of Tennessee counted 757 homeless Veterans in 2017. Due to the fleeting nature of homelessness, TVCH claims that those numbers of people are inadequate. Not to mention, veterans may be residing with friends or family.

TVCH has identified 24 veterans who are currently homeless within the 12 county service region. Their goal is to have each of these people moved into a home by June 30, 2019. The community can help support this effort through events like the Empty Bowl.

Tickets for the event are $25 and cover unlimited soup and bread in addition to the homemade pottery bowl. Tickets can be purchased at

Empty Bowls Event will be held in the Clinton Community Center, 101 S Hicks St. Clinton, TN. For more information, visit theTennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless.
