A Knoxville restaurant recently named ‘the nicest place in America’ held a fundraising event Thursday for a Knoxville police officer who was attacked on the job.

KPD Officer B.K. Hardin was attacked after the Tennessee-Missouri football game at the University of Tennessee campus on Nov. 17.  As Hardin worked to direct traffic, an unidentified man ran up to him from behind and struck him in the back of the head with a blunt object.

Yassin’s Falafel House on North Peters Road is holding an event with Hardin Thursday, December 20.

Hardin has asked that the money raised be donated to the Knoxville Public Safety Foundation. A percentage of sales will go to the foundation.

The event happened Thursday between 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All officers in uniform ate for free during the event. Hundreds of people stopped by to show their support for Hardin as well as KPD.
