Holiday cocktails and pop-up bars at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center

Living East Tennessee

The Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center is turning up the Christmas heat with some cocktails that are sure to warm you up this holiday season.

From water and sodas, to coffee and cocktails the Gaylord Opryland’s Director of Beverage, Trudy Thomas, said there’s a holiday drink for everyone, especially one right before you go into a below freezing ice expo.

“Our Arctic Lounge is really to bring on that ICE Experience, and kick you off before you go into nine degrees,” Thomas said. “It’s really about crafted cocktails, craft beer, a little Moet Ice Champagne, all of these cocktails to get you in the mood to visit the Grinch this year.”

The Arctic Lounge is just feet away from this below freezing ice exhibit and offers mules, cocktails, beers and more.

This year’s holiday line-up includes, “Santa’s Mule,” served in a 20-ounce ICE! Ball glass, with Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey, blood orange juice, cardamom bitters, and Q ginger beer.

Another holiday drink the resort is featuring, is called “Christmas Thyme.”

“It’s a really fun kick on a cosmopolitan,” Thomas said as she described the drink, which includes Reyka Vodka, Cointreau, Ocean Spray white cranberry juice, lemon and thyme.

Thomas’ favorite, however is the Arctic Ice BRRRG!.

“It’s made with Jack Daniels’ Winter Jack, Cointreau, Moet and Chandon Imperial Ice Champagne, Ocean Spray white cranberry and citrus juices,” Thomas said. “It’s served steamy, with a custom made dry ice machine, in a very special glass.”

If you’re looking for something a little on the warmer side, the Arctic Lounge can also add a little to twist to a winter classic.

“We have the ability to spike your hot chocolate, so when you come out of ICE!, you can hit the hot chocolate bar and we can spike that with some of the many different spirits we have at the bar, from a local Tennessee cream to Cognac,” Thomas said.

“All of these are available, not just here at the Arctic Lounge, but at one of our 12 pop-up bars throughout the hotel,” Thomas said. The bars throughout the resort also feature local and regional craft beers,  “such Wicked Weed, out of the Carolinas, Goose Allen IPA, a winter ale out of Oregon and some of our wines are based on the best out of California.”

“We have a lot of guests who just want to come and walk around and see all of the attractions, and not really sit down, so we have these bars popped up all around the hotel, where you can grab one of these cocktails, get it in a signature glass and really enjoy your experience as you are walking around, seeing the lights, experiencing Santa Claus going out to the nativity scene.  You can do all of the things that we have to offer here, with a specialty beverage.”

These holiday drinks won’t be around for long! Make sure to visit the Gaylord Opryland’s “A Country Christmas,” before the holiday season comes to an end!
