UT’s first African-American student receives distinguished alumnus award

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Theotis Robinson, Jr., one of the University of Tennessee’s first African-American students, received the distinguished alumnus award, an honorary doctorate and was hooded this past weekend. He joins in the ranks of 18 other recipients of this award, in the university’s 225-year history.

Robinson is grateful for this honor and hopes to inspire the next generation with his accomplishments.
