Beaver Creek Grand Opening Flotilla to celebrate new water trail

As Seen On WATE

East Tennesseans will soon have a new water trail to explore as Outdoor Knoxville prepares to host the Beaver Creek Grand Opening Flotilla.

To showcase Beaver Creek and its designation as a ‘Water Trail’, a grand opening flotilla is planned for Saturday, August 4th. This free and open-to-the-public event will commence around 10:00 a.m. with boat put-in just south of the baseball field at Powell High School in historic Powell Station.

Beaver Creek, which connects the Knox County communities of Halls, Karns and Powell, is becoming more and more of an amenity for all as efforts have increased to maintain it for public use.

In the run-up to the event jams and debris will be cleared through public and private efforts by groups such as the Knox County Stormwater Management, Knox County Jail’s Inmate Industries, Beaver Creek Kayak Club and more. Long range plans are for debris maintenance along the entirety of Beaver Creek and for installation of multiple put-in/put-outs.

The Grand Opening will be led by the Chairman of Weigels and long-time Powell resident, Bill Weigel.
