The nation’s premier softball tournament is back in Blount County for its 50th edition.
The 50th Smoky Mountain Classic Softball Tournament will be July 13-15 at Sandy Springs Park in Maryville. This competition has been hosting the best in the nation since the 70s.
Year 50 will feature 34 teams, four from East Tennessee, representing 17 states plus nine nationally-ranked teams. All top five nationally-ranked teams will all be participating as well.
All teams will be swinging for the fences with unlimited home runs part of the rules.
Admission on Friday and Saturday will $6 and $5 on Sunday. Children ages six and under get in free.
Games begin Friday, July 13 at 10 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Home Run Derby will be held on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at Sandy Springs. Free admission.
Reception prior to the HR derby to honor past MVPs, coaches, etc.
