The Knoxville Area Employment Consortium held the Champions of Disability Employment Breakfast on Tuesday to celebrate and discuss diversifying the work environment.
A panel of local companies were part of the breakfast, in that the company panelists shared their experiences of diversifying their work force.
“I think it’s extremely important that we give everyone an opportunity to be able to participate,” said Melissa Van Dyke, the Knoxville Area Employment Consortium chair. “And to work, and to have a purpose in life.”
Companies taking part in the breakfast included Discover, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, the UT Medical Center and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The event is part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
