Knoxville gym to hold fundraiser for local father battling cancer

A Knoxville gym will be hosting a special event this weekend to support a local father of two battling cancer. 

Armor Gym will hold “Lift for Leyd” competition this Saturday that also feature a number of exercise classes and events. It will feature a silent auction to benefit Armor Gym fitness manager, Frederic Leyd. All benefits will go to Leyd and his family

Leyd, 52, was diagnosed with stage four non Hodgkins Lymphoma last year. 

Lift for Leyd will feature a bench press contest and a “Death by Cardio” class at Armor Gym with the doors open to maximize space for participants. Participation in the comepetition is not required and visitors can bid in the silent auction or visit displays from local vendors like Mercedes of Knoxville, Faith Promise and Planet Beach.

The event will begin Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and run through the early afternoon. Armor Gym is located at 10710 Lexington Dr, Knoxville, TN 37932.
