Knoxville hosts unwanted medication collection event

The Knoxville Police Department will hold an event to collect old or unwanted prescription medication this Saturday. The event will also offer free document shredding and a Medic blood drive.

The event is in collaboration with the Knox County and City of Knoxville Solid Waste Offices, Knox County Health Department and the Metro Drug Coalition among others. 

Members of the East Tennessee Regional Medication Collection Coalition will be on hand to collect and properly dispose of unwanted medicines from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the Food City located at 7608 Mountain Grove Dr., Knoxville, TN 37920.

Medicines can be dropped off at the Food City only during this event. At all other times, residents can bring old or unused medicines to the Knoxville Police Department Safety Building at 800 Howard Baker Jr. Ave. The Safety Building is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
