Blount County’s mayor is dedicating a kennel at Smoky Mountain Animal Care in the memory of a special stray senior dog.
The pitbull mix’s name was Kip. The Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation says Kip was picked up on a back road in Blount County in bad shape, but found a nice life at the county animal shelter, living out his best days being adored by staff and visitors.
While Kip has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, as they say, he’s still a presence at the center. With the help of volunteers raising $500, Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell will dedicate a kennel through the center’s Adopt-a-Kennel program in Kip’s memory, allowing another animal to have the love and care that Kip enjoyed.
