Baby shower being held for Sweetwater mother in coma

SWEETWATER (WATE) – A community baby shower is being held for a Monroe County mother who remains in a coma after a car crash.

Sharista Giles was on her way back from Nashville in early December when a car crash left her in a coma.Previous story: Sweetwater pregnant woman in a coma at UT Medical after tragic accident

The baby was born prematurely in January. He is still at UT Medical Center and now weighs 4 lbs. 12.8 oz.

Giles is now at Harriman Care and Rehab Center. Her family and friends are holding a community shower for Giles and the baby, still called “Baby L.”

The shower will be held at Engleman Park in Sweetwater on Saturday at 2 p.m. She is registered at Walmart and Babies R Us.
