NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After a woman was found dead inside her east Nashville apartment Tuesday afternoon, her boyfriend was charged with her murder.

Ricardo Bellvue was wanted for questioning in the death of his girlfriend, 24-year-old April Davis.

The 33-year-old reportedly surrendered to Metro police at the encouragement of the victim’s family.

Metro police previously reported Davis was found dead inside her apartment on North Sixth Street late Tuesday afternoon.

A friend became concerned when she was texting with Davis when Davis suddenly stopped replying.

The friend called Davis whose phone was answered by Bellvue.

Police said Davis’ friend then drove to her apartment to check on her where she encountered Bellvue, who reportedly made statements implicated himself in Davis’ death.

The friend then discovered Davis unresponsive upstairs and called police at 5:20 p.m.

Bellvue fled the area before Davis was transported to Saint Thomas Midtown where she was pronounced deceased. Her cause of death has yet to be determined.

According to an affidavit, Bellvue reportedly called Davis’ mother and admitted that he choked and killed Davis.

Metro police said the couple had no history of domestic violence.

Bellvue was booked in the Metro jail and charged with criminal homicide. His bond was set at $500,000.
